about us

We are so glad you are here!

We are so glad you are here. Peace Church is a community centered around Jesus—Being and becoming more like Jesus to help our neighbors know God. We’re growing in love, in courage, in community, and in vision. From younger to older, we believe God is building a beloved community here, and you are invited to be part of it.

about us

We are a part of the Reformed Church in America

Our history, theology, and mission are reflections of this relationship. We believe the Bible is God's revealed word and that Jesus is God's Word made flesh. We affirm the historical truths of the Christian faith as expressed in the Apostle's Creed.

We believe that God is love. We believe Jesus came to let us and EVERYONE know that God is love. We want YOU to know that God loves you, and God loves us too, even when we struggle to believe it.

what we're like

Some of us grew up learning the Heidelberg Catechism,
Many of us did not

Some of us grew up in Reformed churches. Some of us grew up Baptist, some Lutheran, some Roman Catholic. Many of us didn’t grow up with much of a Christian background at all.

Peace Church is a group of people who are “being and becoming more like Jesus to help their neighbors know God”.  What we want to have in common with one another is our love for Jesus, and to understand that we are going to disagree about other things, and that’s okay.

what we believe

We believe that there is only one true God. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

We believe the Bible is authoritative in our lives and that God speaks through it to us today. We believe that there is only one true God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and that this God has called us to be a family on mission. We believe God created the universe, redeems us through Jesus Christ, and empowers us through the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who are uniquely Three, and indescribably One. We believe we are made in God’s image. We believe that God created the world and called it good. We believe that Sin entered the world and brought a brokenness that affects us and infects us all. We believe God gave us his written word to show us how to find God and know God despite our broken lives and broken world. We believe God sent Jesus to save us from our sin, and to save us from ourselves.

We believe that Jesus is the fullest revelation of God’s Will, and God’s Word. To know Jesus is to know God. This is why we sum up what we believe by saying we are “Being and BECOMING more like Jesus to help our neighbors know God.”

We believe the world needs more Jesus.
The Church needs more Jesus.
Christians need more Jesus.
You need more Jesus.
Everyone needs more Jesus.

In 1960, the classis of Minnesota designated Eagan as a place for a new church plant

A group of people under the direction of pastor Levi Aker, first met in a home and then on Easter, 1961, they moved to the church across the street with it's original name Cedar Grove Church.

We are blessed to have a few of the founding members of Peace Church with us. They had a vision to create this church and they’re still active today. They are a link to the past that informs our future. Just as the hymns we sing connect us to our ancestors, So their vision and activity connects us to a wider vision of why this church is here, as well as the hopes and dreams that will move us to the future. We serve a God who doesn’t change over time. The God who spoke to our ancestors is speaking to us today.  Since 1961, we’ve had six pastors and five associate pastors. We've loved, and learned from our pastors. We trust God’s guidance in selecting them.

We are Christ followers. He calls each of us by name. And if that isn’t enough, the very hairs on your head are numbered. Every heartbeat, every breath is a gift from our holy creator. Let us remember that. Let us treasure that. Let us act knowing whose we are, let us remember God’s faithfulness and let us be faithful in return.
