What we believe at peace Church

When it comes down to beliefs, we believe a lot of things, and not everyone agrees on everything. But we do believe the Bible is authoritative in our lives and that God speaks through it to us today. We believe that there is only one true God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and that this God has called us to be a family on mission. We believe God created the universe, redeems us through Jesus Christ, and empowers us through the Holy Spirit. The best way to learn about what we believe and how we live that out is to spend time with us.

We are a part of the Reformed Church in America, and our historytheology, and mission are reflections of this relationship. We believe the Bible is God’s revealed word. We believe Jesus is God’s Word made flesh. We affirm the historical truths of the Christian faith as expressed in the Apostle’s Creed.

Beyond that however, we have our differences. Some of us grew up learning the Heidelberg Catechism. Many of us did not. Some of us grew up in Reformed churches. Some of us grew up Baptist, some Lutheran, some Roman Catholic. Many of us didn’t grow up with much of a Christian background at all. So… what do WE believe as a church?

We believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who are uniquely Three, and indescribably One. We believe we are made in God’s image. We believe that God created the world and called it good. We believe that Sin entered the world and brought a brokenness that affects us and infects us all. We believe God gave us his written word to show us how to find God and know God despite our broken lives and broken world. We believe God sent Jesus to save us from our sin, and to save us from ourselves. We baptize babies and we baptize adults. We sprinkle and we immerse. We are made up of liberals and conservatives and everything in between. We are committed to unity, purity, and peace. We don’t major in the minors, but focus on the centrality of the cross, and most of all… Jesus.

We believe that Jesus is the fullest revelation of God’s Will, and God’s Word. To know Jesus is to know God. This is why we sum up what we believe by saying we are “Being and BECOMING more like Jesus to help our neighbors know God.”

We believe the world needs more Jesus.
The Church needs more Jesus.
Christians need more Jesus.
You need more Jesus.
Everyone needs more Jesus.

In the end, we believe that God is love, and Jesus came to let us and EVERYONE know that. We want YOU to know that God loves you… and God loves us too…
