What We Believe
We believe that there is only one true God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and that this God has called us to be a family of believers serving him. We believe this God created the universe, redeemed us through Jesus Christ and empowers us through the Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is God’s word and it tells us that there is only one way to eternal life, and that is through Jesus.
Our theological heritage comes out of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500's. We are affiliated with the Reformed Church in America, a denomination grounded in the historic reformation theology of the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Belhar Confession.
The RCA's calling is to be "the very presence of Jesus Christ in the world, a thousand churches in a million ways doing one thing-following Christ in mission, in a lost and broken world so loved by God."
Our heritage comes from the Reformed tradition. Around 500 years ago these words were written to give witness to the beginning of the end of our faith. We think they do a good job summing up what is at the heart of all that we are in Christ.
Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?
A. That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.
He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven; in fact, all things must work together for my salvation.
Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him. -- Heidelberg Catechism Q&A #1
