EPIC - WHAT TO EXPECT

We understand that it can be intimidating to walk into a building you've never been to before and go to a church service with a bunch of people who all seem to know each other. We want you to feel completely comfortable, so here are a few frequently asked questions to help you feel more at ease.

If you have any other questions feel free to get in touch with Adriel Menard, our music director who leads the band at epic. She would be happy to help.

What should I wear?
When should I get there?
What happens during the service?
Do I have to put money in the offering plate?
Where do my kids go?

What should I wear?

There a few who dress up, but most people dress casually - think Saturday afternoon.

When should I get there?

Staring on September 11, the service will begin at 10:50; until then, we are meeting at 10:30. Most people get here just a little bit before then, some of them coming from Sunday school (September-May) which starts at 10:15. There is always coffee available before the service, either right outside the front door (summer only) or downstairs.

What happens during the services?

The service is about an hour long.

Each week we have a worship time. We use this time to communicate with God through music. Most people stand during this time, and some of them raise their hands as a way of physically showing their love for God. Feel free to do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

We also have a message each week, where Pastor Chris (or Pastor Al) explores a passage from the Bible to see what it says about God. Feel free to check out our current sermon series.

After the message we take an offering. If you are visiting the church, please don't feel any pressure to give. The offering is for people who call epic their community of faith.

On the first Sunday of the month we take communion together. Anyone who has decided to follow Jesus is welcome to join us as we take bread and juice together to remember what Jesus did for us through his death and resurrection.

We also have prayers, video, greeting, dance, and more. These vary from week to week.

Do I have to put money in the offering plate?

No. This is a voluntary donation made by people who call this their community of faith. Please don't feel like you are drawing attention to yourself if you choose not to give; many people give online or on a monthly basis.

Where do my kids go?

There is a nursery for children under the age of 3. It's in the northwest corner of the building on the same level as the sanctuary. If you need more direction you can also ask one of the greeters.

There is also a Children and Worship time September-May for children preschool-third grade. Children go to the opening portion of the service and then are dismissed. They walk from the sanctuary to their worship center with a greeter.

If you have any other questions about kids, feel free to get in touch with our Children's Director, Nancy Pruis. She'd love to talk to you.
