Small Group Ministry

"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

The idea of small groups is not a new one. For nearly two thousand years Christians have been meeting together in small groups to study the bible, share meals, care for one another and pray together. Men and women have discovered a closeness to God and to others and their lives have been transformed because of their involvement with small groups of Christians.

The Philosophy Behind Our Approach to Ministry

At Peace Church we attempt to live out Jesus’ command in John 15:12 to "Love one another as I have loved you". To this end we have developed a relational style of ministry. We know that God has called us into ministry in this place and that we need one another to fully become the Body of Christ. Small groups and the relational principles of openness, sharing, prayer and study that accompany them are keys to accomplishing this goal. Committees are asked to open their meetings with relational checking-in times and each member of the congregation is encouraged to be a member of a small group.

What are Small Groups?

A small group is an intentional gathering of eight to fourteen people, usually meeting in homes. A typical gathering includes fellowship, bible study, prayer and dessert. Most groups meet once or twice per month for one or two hours per gathering.

New groups are being formed throughout the year through the Peace Discovery Class. Individuals or couples can be added to existing groups at any time.

Periodic leadership training opportunities are available for those who want to develop the skills necessary to be a small group leader.
